Sign Reseach

SIGNALONG maintains good relations with users of British Sign Language and also has a library of sources of signs. Having researched and published more illustrated sign vocabulary than any other organisation in Britain, we have considerable expertise in tracking down existing signs, and where these do not exist or are inappropriate for our client group, we generate new ones following the basic methodology and existing practice. New signs are checked out with Deaf signers to ensure that they do not conflict with BSL.

We have a large bank of signs which have already been researched but which have not yet fitted into an appropriate manual. These are available to Signalong users at no charge - provided that you understand the method of description! Call us if there are gaps in the published vocabulary.
